Private, Instrument, and Commercial Practical Test

Congratulations on your flight training progress. I am happy to work with you to help you earn your pilot certificate. 

Check the calendar below for a date that works for you, then click on an open appointment and follow the booking instructions. If you are using a mobile to access this website, you may need to scroll down inside the calendar to see the appointments. There is a $200 deposit to hold the appointment. I will send you a confirmation email in a few days with the actual time.

Waitlist: As new dates become available, I will notify the next few applicants on the list via text message in waitlist order. My schedule varies due to family and other commitments. I am generally only available during weekdays. 

I will give some time between notifications to allow applicants to access the calendar and claim an available time. I will continue with other applicants but keep you at the top of the notification list.

Please let me know if you schedule with someone else or your circumstances change so I can keep my information up to date.

If we can't find a workable time within three months due to your availability or lack of response, I will need to remove you from the list so that I can more efficiently focus on the remainder of the list. You can rejoin at the end of the line if you'd like.

Fees: 

Deposit Policy: 

A $200 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a practical test time slot. The deposit will be applied to the total practical test fee for that appointment. The deposit does not transfer to another date if we need to cancel or reschedule, for example due to incomplete or incorrect paperwork, if you are not ready, are sick, your FAA requirements are not met, the aircraft is not available or is not airworthy, or similar situations that cannot be resolved promptly at the time of our appointment. For changes due to weather or the examiner, the deposit will be refunded or applied to a new date.

Practical Test Fees: 

• $900 plus travel for practical tests.

• $400 plus travel for retest from a test with me. 

• Travel only and no additional practical test fee to resume after a discontinuance from me.

• Retest or resume fees plus travel from a ride started with another examiner will vary, but will be in these ranges, contact me to discuss.

Travel Fees: 

• There is no travel charge to C81, KUGN, or KPWK. 

• There is a $200 travel fee to other airports in the Chicagoland area, including KDPA, KARR, 05C, and KVPZ. The travel fee is in addition to the Practical Test fee. If you wish to meet outside of the Chicagoland area, please contact me in advance.

None of this is meant to make the process impersonal or difficult. I’m still happy to talk—I'm just trying to stay organized and fair in a challenging situation where the demand for my time greatly exceeds its availability. Thank you for your understanding.
